Jane The Hippie Vampire: Hair by Leigh M. Lane

Jane is ironically a vegan vampire with a knack for getting into trouble.

Needing to head to warmer climes she heads South into Bible Belt country, the weather maybe warmer but the hospitality is not; at least for an outwardly appearing teenage vagrant.

When a purple dog runs past her during a routine police stop you are already drawn back into Jane’s strange world and you can feel the magic carpet ride coming.

Whilst she knows that she must feed and she often disgusts herself with the berserker like frenzy when this occurs she knows it was not her that started to rip the Officers to pieces in the woods, even though she does not turn down an easy meal.

LML has a wonderful skill of explaining the pain that Jane feels during these feeds giving you a sense of the gnawing hunger vs the need to preserve all life.

As she hides in the forest she is found by the local Ranger, Bobby, and he kindly takes her home for dinner, although he does have his own agenda and what is actually on the menu?

His family are a strange mix of rednecks and homely parents, then LML introduces  the local fruitloop who professes to be seeing lake monsters, werewolves and vampires and you know things are about to go squiffy for poor Jane!

When said fruitloop decides to rid the world of a “stinking leech” he sets in motion a terrible chain of events, killing sprees, hidden bodies and family secret revelations.

Whilst all this is going on LML manages to throw in some horrific flashbacks of Jane’s previous life and her “change”.

Overall another wonderful installment in the undead life of Jane. I am more intrigued by this vampire now; LML is expertly giving little hints of the true horror in Jane’s life whilst telling these little chapters in her life. 

My only complaint is having to wait for the next episode.

Jane is the strangest vampire I have come across in a long while.

One sunny afternoon she meets Randy and his weird dogs, strange job and horrific food sense.

LML treated me to a brilliant piece of mystery thriller writing with a super natural element, with just enough grossness to add a horror element.

She hints this will be a series and I do hope so.

Some fabulous in depth and textured descriptions allow you to become immersed in the story I was totally engrossed in this novella and was sad when it ended.

Jane is an intriguing character and I so want to know more about how she became what she is and what her forward plan is.

Finding Poe

From the very first sentence of this book your mind is held captive by the astounding writing held within the pages.

Lady Karina is filled with sadness as her husband Brantley not only takes her away from the life she knows and loves but takes her away to a place that takes away her sanity. Between the nightmares and the mental abuse she goes through you can not help but feel her pain.

If you want to send your mind into a whirlwind of horror, terror and fear this book is just what you need!!! I am so happy to have read it. Leigh M. Lane has a way with words that pull you right into the story and you will be held there until the end.

World Mart

This is one suspenseful and powerful book, once I started it was too scary how believable this story could turn out to be. Illness is all over and there seems to be a new strain of the flu every couple of years. 

It has even gotten to the point that some doctors are afraid to prescribe antibiotics at times. This is one of those books where you sit back and wonder how far into the future we can go before something like this can really happen. 

The government in this book and all of their control was very implied but never went over board and did play a big role in the story but it was never too overbearing.

Now I will talk about the story within the story and they are known as the Irwin family.

The author did an amazing job of bringing the characters too life for you imagination to be able to grasp each one and see though their eyes and feel the emotions as there life goes from as normal and any other Corporate Segregate family. Even though over the last few months there has been more problems with the outsiders "deviants" George never knew how fast his life could change for the worse.

After his wife, Virginia, was infected by an unknown disease and put in the hospital life as the Irwin family just ceased to exist in any normal fashion.

This is a highly emotional and compelling book and I recommend it to any one who loves a good suspense, family tragedy or government take over.

Finding Poe by Leigh M. Lane

From the first few lines I was drawn into a nightmare, as the story continues I never knew what was real or a dream.  I got quite confused at some points such is the atmospheric and haunting elements the author Leigh M. Lane is able to evoke with her writing. 

When I finally finished I had to give myself a shake to reacclimatise myself to reality, I was so engrossed I forgot where I was!

I was quite surprised at the odd gore moment too.

Having never read Poe, other than A tell tale heart back in school days, I'm not sure what I was expecting, however this has tempted me enough to buy his back work and give it a whirl.  I hope to reread this at some point post His work to get the full benefit!.

Reading through the other reviews I don’t think I could put how I felt any better than this lovely lyrical line by Lori. R. Lopez (another beautiful author) “The author conveys you on an expedition through fact and fiction, madness and mystery, and in the end you will be left to gaze at the clever swirl of intrigue unmasked with a sense of having met Poe himself and danced with the devil.”
